Upvc and Energy Efficiency

We all know that upvc doors and windows can help to reduce our energy bills and add to the value of our home as well as being good for the environment by reducing our co2 emissions. Until now though it has been hard to find out if the doors and windows you are buying are energy efficient.

Recently a new scheme for upvc windows has been introduced with windows having energy ratings similar to those found on domestic appliances, with A being the most efficient.  Upvc doors are currently measured in terms of U values with new regulations requiring a value of 1.8W/m²K or less.

These energy ratings are based on complicated calculations which look at how much heat is retained within the home, the amount of solar gain and how air tight the units are.

Buying quality upvc door and windows needn't break the bank but can also save you hundreds of pounds on your heating bills when you factoring in these savings over the expected lifespan of the product.
