The Novice Guide to A Upvc Door

Some simple FAQ's to help you order

Here are some simple pieces of advice to help the novice order their upvc door.

There are a few popular questions that we answer to the public which are as follows:-

What's a low aluminium threshold?

What's a standard 150mm sill?

What's a 20mm Flag clearance?

How does the upvc door arrive?

So we are going to try and explain some of the technical questions/terminology to help you create an order and put your mind at rest.

Low Aluminium Threshold

A low aluminium threshold is the item based at the bottom of the upvc door which creates a weather seal and a water run off.

150mm Sill

A standard Upvc door sill which is also a water run off board at the base of the door.

20mm Flag Hinge Clearance

A 20mm Flag hinge clearance is a strip of upvc door rectangular section which fits between the wall and the hinge side of the door frame. This allows a greater adjustment on the hinges for any fitting discrepancies or wear.

How Does The Door Arrive

The upvc door you recieve will be pre-hung on the outer door frame to test the lock and hinge mechanism are working correctly. You shall recieve the upvc door panel, glass unit and sill as seperate items with the delivery. After fitting the door you shall clip the panel and glazed unit into position. The delivery also comes with full fitting instructions or you can print a copy from our website at http://www.abacasdoors.co.uk/installation.php.
